Dearborn Intermodal Passenger Rail Facility

Cost Estimate: $28 million

The project includes construction of a 16,000-square-foot intermodal passenger station building, related site and utility infrastructure, parking, storm water management, two platforms, the restoration of the second Norfolk Southern mainline track adjacent to the intermodal facility, and a pedestrian bridge.

Additional site improvements include a 300-car surface parking lot, access and circulation upgrades, and a small park. The station includes bays and drop-off zones for city and intercity buses, shuttles, limousines, taxis, and passenger cars. The station will provide a direct connection to the Henry Ford tourist attraction.

Work is expected to be done in August 2013.

"This station is a real cornerstone of our economic development program because those are the kinds of things that are going to improve quality of life and make this an attractive city to young professionals, people who want to raise their families here, and people who are looking for a cool place to live."

-Barry Murray. Director, Dearborn's Economic and Community Development
